Abhishek Bathina

Abhishek holds an undergraduate degree in Physics and Cognitive Science from Swarthmore College and is currently pursuing a PhD in Theoretical Physics at Georgetown University. He spent a year teaching high school Math, Physics, and Computer Science and has 6 years of experience tutoring STEM, ELA, Guitar, and Spanish.

As he pursues his own education, he is committed to conveying the importance of a well-rounded education to students and strives to emphasize the connections between subjects. He views the dialogue between tutor and tutee as an opportunity for mutual learning.

Early in his career, a guitar student was inclined to practice finger-style arrangements of pop songs while Abhishek insisted on classical pieces and scales. Despite this difference, they had lessons together for a year. When he met the student several years later, he was glad to find that not only had the student appreciated the classical regimen but also had gone on to become a very proficient finger-style player. In addition to being an early teaching memory, he looks back fondly on this experience because it taught him about the creative possibilities of dialogue and disagreement.

This experience, along with many others, has shaped Abhishek's approach to teaching, where he values adaptability, open communication, and the nurturing of each student's unique strengths. As he continues his journey in academia, Abhishek remains passionate about fostering a learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovery across all disciplines.
