Sonny Hoang

Sonny Hoang graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor’s degree in microbiology in December of 2017. He speaks English and Vietnamese fluently, and is proficient in Spanish. In high school, he was a recipient of the International Baccalaureate diploma and was a member of various honor societies, including the National Honor Society, the Math Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the TRI-M International Music Honor Society. He began tutoring in his junior year of high school and continued into his senior year, during which he helped students with Algebra, Music Theory, and Spanish (Levels 1 through 5). In high school, Sonny took a variety of AP and IB classes and continued to take advanced science courses in college. From his tutoring and academic experiences, he understands the importance of setting strong foundations before building upon more detailed concepts, especially for STEM-field-related courses. Sonny also recognizes the importance of time management and organization when balancing schoolwork with other responsibilities. Currently, he is hoping to enroll as a graduate student in the fall to study public health nutrition. In his spare time, his hobbies include playing piano, singing, writing, and learning new languages.
